We have learned to take a bite
from a fruit aptly named life
Yet –
what do we do with a soft skin,
which hides a hard core within?
A piece of life hard to swallow,
a piece of us easy to wallow
Why does this world so conspire?
Our situation seems always so dire
Our souls eternally in burning fire
Chaos within; serenity without
Lies we tell; truths we sought
Our steps clearly unclear
Our minds full of fear
Outside a fearless façade
Inside an immense divide
