Chains

A cold iron chain wrapped in soft velvet

Each clanking link with its little eyes watching me

Every time I lash out and run, it blinks, straightens, and snags

My feet pulling me towards the canyon of darkness

And with its hard metallic touch against my cranium

Molten cracks form on my multilayered rock of sanity
