Childhood’s End

Photo by Annie Spratt on Unsplash

Recalling days truly alive
Images flash of years gone
When delight at each dawn
Never failed to arrive

No need to contrive
Haven’t worn deceit’s glove
And times of pure love
Never failed to arrive

A life with little strife
Always ready with a smile
And friendship worthwhile
Never failed to arrive

Adult, no longer ten or five
Now in an unnatural disguise
The age when childhood dies
Never failed to arrive
